Henrik Tuma (1858 - 1935) was a lawyer, linguist and mountaineer. Out of his passion towards mountains he gathered and interpreted many place names. Until today, many Slovene names in the Julian Alps were preserved, thanks to his research. He was aware of the fact that interpreting place names (with the help of Slovene language) changes the course of the official European history. He tried to show practically how the Alps preserved autochthonous names, which are even today understandable to Slovenes. We would like to make you familiar with "Nomenclature of the Julian Alps" and "Alpinism and the science" (available in Slovene).
