Sogni e onirismo nei dialetti d'Europa

E-mail Print PDF
On Continuitas a new interesting paper by F. Benozzo was just published (here is the link to the full paper).
In the frame of the most recent ethnolinguistic research this article studies the occurrences for ‘dream’, ‘dreamer’, and ‘to dream’ in the European dialects, pointing out the existence of beliefs and conceptions that find their root in a prehistoric motivation. The author studies in particular the incidence of words indifferently used with the following meanings: 1) ‘to dream’ / ‘to heal’ / ‘to sing - to compose poems’; 2) ‘dream’ / ‘recovery’ / ‘music - poem’; 3) ‘dreamer’ / ‘medicine man’ / ‘musician – poet’. Thanks to the epistemologically renewed frame offered by the Paleolithic Continuity Theory (PCT) it is possible to connect these words to an original semantic field belonging to the Palaeo-Mesolithic European shamanism and to the related Medieval traditions connected with the ritual known as incubatio.
